MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Peter Hay is one of the founding doctors at Castle Hill Medical Centre and has been caring for patients in the Hills community for decades. He loves general practice because it offers a unique opportunity to truly understand people and build long-term relationships with patients and families across all stages of life.
With many years of experience in general practice, Dr Hay enjoys the constant challenge of medicine and is passionate about lifelong learning and evidence-based care. He has been involved in a range of medical research projects, particularly in the cardiovascular field, including hypertension, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. He was also a co-author of the QUARTET blood pressure study published in The Lancet. Dr Hay is heavily involved in GP education and sits on a number of advisory boards, where he enjoys mentoring and sharing knowledge with the next generation of doctors.
Fluent in seven languages — English, Hungarian, Italian, French, Spanish, German and Mandarin — he values connecting with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Outside of medicine, Dr Hay enjoys good food and wine in moderation, appreciates a good sense of humour and believes laughter is one of the best medicines. He also enjoys keeping up with technology — most of the time. Dr Hay loves his work and the patients at Castle Hill Medical Centre and says he wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
