Do I need a referral to see a GP at Castle Medical?

No referral is needed to book an appointment with a GP at Castle Medical. Whether you’re coming in for a routine check-up, ongoing care, preventive health support, or a new concern, you can book directly with our team at the location most convenient for you.

We believe healthcare works best when your doctor understands your health story over time — not just during one appointment. Our GPs focus on long-term relationships, personalised care plans, follow-up support, and coordinated referrals when needed. It means you’ll have a team that checks in, tracks your progress, and supports your health at every stage of life.

Yes — Telehealth appointments are available for many consultations, including follow-ups, prescription reviews, mental health care, and general medical advice. To be eligible for Medicare-rebated Telehealth services, you must have had a face-to-face appointment with one of our GPs within the last 12 months. If an in-person examination is required, your GP will let you know and help arrange the next step. Our team can also advise whether Telehealth is suitable when you book.

You’re welcome to visit whichever Castle Medical clinic is most convenient for you. If you’re unsure, our team can help match you with the right GP based on your needs, preferred appointment times, and location. We also aim to support continuity of care by helping you see the same doctor whenever possible.

Billing arrangements may vary depending on the Castle Medical clinic location, appointment type, and the doctor you see. Some services may be bulk-billed for eligible patients, while others are privately billed with an out-of-pocket fee. Our reception team will be happy to explain the fees applicable to your appointment when booking.

To help us make the most of your visit, please bring:

  • Your Medicare card and photo ID
  • Any current medications or prescriptions
  • Relevant medical records, scans, or test results
  • Referral letters (if you have them)
  • A list of questions or concerns you’d like to discuss

Arriving a few minutes early will also allow time to complete any new patient forms before your consultation.

Yes. We provide preventive healthcare services including health assessments, chronic disease management, vaccinations, women’s and men’s health checks, and lifestyle support. Our goal is to help you stay well — not just treat illness when it happens.

Whenever possible, yes. We encourage continuity of care so your GP can better understand your medical history, health goals, and ongoing needs. Seeing the same doctor regularly often leads to more personalised and effective care.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call emergency services immediately. For urgent but non-life-threatening concerns, contact your nearest Castle Medical clinic and our team will help arrange the most appropriate care as quickly as possible. Our Marsden Park clinic also provides access to urgent care support for eligible non-life-threatening conditions requiring prompt medical attention.

MyMedicare is a voluntary Australian Government program that helps strengthen the relationship between patients, their regular GP, and their preferred medical clinic. Registering with Castle Medical can help support better continuity of care, particularly for patients with ongoing or complex health needs.

Registration is free, and eligible patients who regularly visit our clinics may choose to nominate Castle Medical as their preferred practice. Our team can help guide you through the registration process and answer any questions during your visit.

What to Expect.

Your mental health appointment provides a safe, respectful space to discuss your concerns and explore the support options available to you.

Before your appointment

There’s no special preparation needed. You may wish to think about any symptoms, concerns, or changes in your wellbeing that you’d like to discuss with your GP.

During the appointment

Your GP will take the time to understand your concerns, discuss your mental health and overall wellbeing, and talk through any support options that may help.

Personalised mental health support

Where appropriate, we can develop a personalised mental health care plan tailored to your individual needs, including ongoing monitoring, practical strategies, and referrals for additional support services.

Ongoing care and continuity

Mental health support often continues beyond the initial consultation. We provide ongoing follow-up care, regular reviews, and coordinated support to help you feel supported over time.
