Cancer Screening

Preventative prostate health assessments focused on early detection, personalised risk assessment, and supporting long-term men’s health.

Why Prostate Cancer Screening Matter.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men. Early detection and regular review can help identify concerns sooner and support better long-term health outcomes.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men. Early detection and regular review can help identify concerns sooner and support better long-term health outcomes.

Prostate cancer may not cause symptoms in its early stages, which is why understanding your individual risk factors and screening options is important. Symptoms can also overlap with non-cancerous prostate conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). If you are aged 50 and over — or aged 40 to 45 with symptoms or a family history of prostate cancer — your GP can help you understand your risk and discuss appropriate screening options based on your individual health needs and preferences.

What to Expect.

Your appointment provides an opportunity to discuss prostate health, individual risk factors, and whether prostate cancer screening may be appropriate for you.

Discussing your health & risk factors

Your GP will review your medical history, family history, symptoms, lifestyle factors, and any concerns related to prostate health.

Screening & Assessment

Where appropriate, screening may include a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and further assessment based on your individual risk factors and symptoms.

After the appointment

We’ll explain your results clearly and discuss whether further monitoring, repeat testing, or referral to a specialist is recommended.

Ongoing preventative care

Regular review and ongoing preventative healthcare can help support long-term prostate health and early identification of potential concerns over time.
